Minister James Hughes

Minister James Hughes was born in Scotland and came to Canada as a child. He grew up in Toronto, and became addicted to alcohol. One Saturday night in July 1982, he got drunk and followed the sound of music into 54 Moutray Street. He went inside looking for a Caribana party, but instead found Holy Convocation service, and came out with Jesus.
During his 38 years at Praise Sanctuary, he has worked with the Brotherhood, Youth and Education Departments. Together with his wife, they started a food bank, serving 200 people weekly, also hosting dinners for the homeless. This inspiring initiative was featured on City-Pulse news.
Minister Hughes attended the University of Toronto, where he received his Bachelor or Arts, and a teaching language certificate. He was also certified in HRM. Minister Hughes is currently studying at the University of Toronto pursuing his Masters in Theology.
He teaches French, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Mandarin Chinese at private high schools.
Minister Hughes married Evangelist Judith Hughes, and in 2021, they will be celebrating their 37th wedding anniversary. They have two children, Juel and Jimmel, and two grand-children, Charlotte and Caleb.
