1. Introduction

Kingdom Life Ministries (“Kingdom Life Ministries,” “the Ministry,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through our website at https://klife.ca/ (the “Website”), how we use and protect it, and the choices available to you.

We handle personal information in a manner consistent with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Although faith-based and charitable organizations are not always strictly subject to PIPEDA, Kingdom Life Ministries chooses to follow its principles as a matter of good practice.

By using the Website or submitting information through any of our forms, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Policy.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to personal information collected through the Website. It does not apply to information collected offline, or to third-party websites and services that the Website links to or embeds — including PayPal and embedded social media or video content. Those services are governed by their own privacy policies.

3. Information We Collect

Information you provide through forms. Our Website includes several forms: baptism, baby christening, the “Join the Family” membership form, prayer requests, general contact, requests to Bishop Barrington Smith, and requests to First Lady Smith. Depending on the form, we may collect your name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, date of birth or age, the content of any message or request you submit, and any other information you choose to provide.

Information about minors. Some of our forms relate to youth or children’s ministry programs. Where a form involves a person under the age of 18, we may collect information such as the minor’s name, age, emergency contact details, and relevant health or accessibility information (for example, allergies). See Section 9.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Website, we and our analytics providers may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 6).

We do not collect financial or payment information through the Website. Donations and payments are processed by a third-party platform (see Section 14).

4. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

respond to your enquiries, prayer requests, and messages;
process registrations for events, programs, and ministry activities;
administer volunteer and membership applications;
send you newsletters, updates, and communications you have asked to receive;
understand how the Website is used and improve its content and performance;
maintain the security and integrity of the Website; and
meet our legal, regulatory, and charitable reporting obligations.

We use your information only for the purposes for which it was collected, or for compatible purposes, unless you consent to a new use or the law permits or requires it.

5. Consent

We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent, which may be express or implied depending on the sensitivity of the information and the circumstances. By submitting a form, you provide your consent for us to use that information for the stated purpose.

You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting us using the details in Section 16. Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide certain services to you.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Website uses cookies and similar technologies. A cookie is a small text file placed on your device.

We use:

Strictly necessary cookies that allow the Website to function properly;
Analytics and performance cookies that help us understand how visitors use the Website (see Google Analytics in Section 7); and
Third-party cookies that may be set when content from social media or video platforms is embedded in our pages.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of certain analytics tracking using the tools described in Section 7. Disabling cookies may affect how the Website functions. Where required, we will ask for your consent through a cookie notice when you first visit the Website.

7. Service Providers and Third Parties

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate the Website and our communications. These providers process personal information on our behalf and under our instructions, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

Google Analytics — website analytics and performance measurement;
An email newsletter service — distribution of newsletters and email communications;
Embedded social media and video platforms — content displayed on our pages.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not allow third parties to use it for their own marketing purposes.

We may disclose personal information to third parties only: (a) to the service providers described above; (b) where you have consented; (c) where required or permitted by law, including to comply with a court order, subpoena, or lawful request from a government or regulatory authority; or (d) to protect the rights, safety, or property of the Ministry, our congregation, or others.

8. Email Communications

If you subscribe to our newsletter or other email updates, we will send you communications consistent with CASL. Every commercial electronic message we send includes a clear unsubscribe mechanism. You can withdraw your consent to receive these messages at any time, and we will honour your request promptly.

9. Children and Minors

We care about the privacy of young people. Where a Website form relates to a youth or children’s ministry program, or otherwise involves a person under the age of 18:

the form should be completed and submitted by the minor’s parent or legal guardian;
by submitting the form, the parent or guardian consents to our collection and use of the minor’s information for the stated program purpose; and
a parent or guardian may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child’s information at any time by contacting us.

If you believe we have collected information about a minor without appropriate parental or guardian consent, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

10. How We Store and Protect Your Information

We store personal information in secure environments and apply physical, organizational, and technological safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. These measures may include restricted access, password protection, encryption where appropriate, and limiting access to personnel and volunteers who need the information to carry out their duties.

No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Some of our service providers may store information outside Ontario or Canada. Where that is the case, the information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is stored.

11. Data Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law or our charitable record-keeping obligations. When personal information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to securely destroy, erase, or anonymize it.

12. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

ask whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it;
request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
withdraw your consent to our use of your information; and
ask questions or make a complaint about how we handle your information.

We will respond to your request within a reasonable time. There is generally no cost to access your own information, though we may charge a minimal fee for certain requests and will tell you in advance. If we are unable to fulfil a request, we will explain why.

13. Links to Other Websites

The Website may contain links to third-party websites, including our donation platform and social media pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

14. Donations and Payments

Kingdom Life Ministries does not process donations or payments directly on the Website. Donation links direct you to PayPal, a third-party platform that collects and processes any payment information under its own terms and privacy policy. We encourage you to review those documents before donating.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be posted on this page, and your continued use of the Website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
